About Cambridge Risk Solutions
A Human‑Centred Consultancy
Helen’s background spans Business Continuity, Crisis Management, Information Security, Data Protection and wider organisational resilience. Throughout her career, she has prioritised one core principle: clarity enables confidence. Risk management is often buried beneath jargon, frameworks and unnecessary formality. Helen’s approach removes that weight and replaces it with steady, structured, plain‑English guidance that people understand instantly.
Clients frequently describe her work as calm, grounded and reassuring. She listens first, interprets quickly and translates complex ideas into clear, practical steps. This human‑centred style means that plans, frameworks and governance systems aren’t just compliant — they are usable.
Because the business is intentionally small, clients receive direct access to an experienced practitioner rather than rotating consultants or subcontracted teams. This continuity leads to stronger relationships and deeper understanding. Many clients have worked with Helen for 10 to 12 years or more, returning for support as their organisations change, grow or face new challenges. Those long‑term partnerships are a defining part of what Cambridge Risk Solutions offers: stability, trust and consistency in a field where those qualities are essential.
Our Philosophy
Everything we do is shaped by a small set of guiding principles:
Clarity over complexity.
Risk and resilience do not need to be intimidating. We believe in clear language, honest conversations and practical insights.
Proportionate solutions.
The right level of documentation, structure and governance depends on the organisation. We tailor every engagement to your scale, maturity and operational reality.
Confidence, not compliance for its own sake.
A document that people don’t use is not a solution. Our work focuses on developing genuine capability, not checking boxes.
Real‑world relevance.
Organisations need arrangements that work when someone’s away, when systems fail or when decisions need to be made under pressure. Everything we build reflects those conditions.
Partnership, not prescription.
We don’t impose rigid frameworks. We work collaboratively, building understanding and supporting teams to make good decisions.
How We Work
Each organisation is unique, and our approach is shaped around your context:
- We start by understanding how your organisation works day to day — not how a theoretical model assumes it works.
- We listen carefully, drawing out priorities, pressures and concerns.
- We focus on proportionate solutions, avoiding unnecessary administration.
- We write clearly, in accessible language your teams will actually use.
- We support implementation, training and long‑term review if needed.
Our clients value the calm, relationship‑led nature of this work. Because we maintain long‑term partnerships, we often support organisations through multiple phases of maturity — from initial capability‑building to deeper integration across governance, risk and resilience.

Helen began her career in risk and resilience in 2001, joining North Yorkshire County Council as an Emergency Planning Officer. She went on to gain further experience in emergency planning with a London Borough before moving into the private sector, joining the Business Continuity Management team within Wealth Management at Barclays Bank.
Prior to co-founding Cambridge Risk Solutions, Helen held a management role in the IT Security division of Accenture — an experience that deepened her expertise in information security and enterprise risk. Earlier in her career, Helen worked as an inorganic research chemist at Unilever and served as an officer in the Territorial Army, completing four tours in the Balkans.
This breadth of experience — spanning military service, scientific research, financial services, local government, and global consulting — gives Helen an unusually well-rounded perspective on risk and resilience, and underpins the practical, commercially aware solutions she delivers for clients.

Why Organisations Choose Cambridge Risk Solutions
The most common answer, when we ask clients how they found us, is referral. A former colleague who worked with us at a previous organisation. A peer who mentioned us in conversation. Someone who had been through an ISO certification or a crisis exercise with us and knew what to expect.
That pattern matters. It means the relationships we build are based on the quality of the work rather than the size of a marketing budget. And it means clients arrive with realistic expectations — which is exactly where good consultancy relationships start.
What clients tell us they value most is consistency. They know who they are working with. They know the advice will be straight. They know the work will be done properly and delivered on time. And they know that when something changes in their organisation — a new system, a restructure, a new risk on the horizon — they can pick up the phone and get a useful answer rather than a proposal for a new project.
Many of our clients have been with us for ten years or more. That is not an accident, and it is not something we take for granted
