Business Continuity Training and Exercises
No Business Continuity Management programme is effective without a significant element of training and exercising. Moreover, ongoing Business Continuity training and exercising is the most efficient way to ensure that Business Continuity plans work and that they remain up to date as organisations evolve and people within the organisation move.
Whatever the current maturity of Business Continuity Management within your organisation, Cambridge Risk Solutions can work with you to identify your specific training needs. We have extensive experience of delivering all types of Business Continuity training from basic awareness courses through to sophisticated Crisis Management exercises.
Business Continuity Training Courses
In order to implement an effective Business Continuity Management programme, 3 separate training activities are required:
- General Business Continuity training for all staff ;
- More detailed training for staff members who have specific Business Continuity Management responsibilities; and
- Specialist Crisis Management training for nominated members of Crisis Management teams to help them understand their vital role in leading the response to a disruption.
As well as offering these standard Business Continuity training packages, Cambridge Risk Solutions can deliver a wide range of bespoke courses for clients. We have also partnered with West Anglia Training Association to offer Business Continuity training on an individual basis in Huntingdon: the next course takes place on 22nd January 2009, for further details please email info@cambridge-risk.com.
Crisis Management Exercises
Having completed relevant training, those staff members who are involved in Crisis Management teams should confirm their knowledge and understanding by taking part in scenario-based Crisis Management exercises. Scenarios need to be tailored to the specific vulnerabilities of your organisation but the following are often useful:
- Severe weather events
- Pandemic influenza
- Power loss / IT outages / Communications outages
- Fires and bombs
A range of formats can be used, progressing from simple 'Desktop' Crisis Management exercises to more advanced simulations as the team gains in confidence and experience.
