We blogged a year ago about Takata Airbags – The Mother of all Product Recalls; well the recall just got a whole lot bigger! The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has now ordered the recall of a further 35-40 million airbags. Takata has agreed to carry out the recall over the next three years but insists that there is no new evidence to suggest that the airbags present a “substantial risk”.
We also commented in last year’s blog about how, despite the huge recall of one of their main products, Takata was predicting 9% growth in revenues for the 2015/16 financial year. Now,based on three quarters of data, they are actually predicting a 12% rise for the full year – puzzling!!!
